This project involved preparing a detailed HVAC quantity take off covering all major system components including ductwork, piping, fittings, insulation, accessories, and air distribution elements. The client required all quantities to be measured digitally, visually verified, and delivered in a structured BOQ format to support procurement, estimation, and cost planning.
Client Requirement
The client needed a highly accurate HVAC quantity take off that captured all key components such as ducts, pipes, insulation, elbows, transitions, dampers, diffusers, grilles, and hangers. Their expectations included:
- Itemized quantities measured digitally through PlanSwift
- A well-structured Excel sheet aligned with BOQ formatting
- A fully marked up plan showing all quantified elements
- Material and labor-based values to support cost planning
The objective was to ensure full clarity in budgeting and align the quantities precisely with construction drawings.
Our Approach
We began by reviewing the complete drawing set to understand routing, zoning, and measurement boundaries. Using PlanSwift, we applied accurate scaling and traced each system component, generating precise measurements for ducts, pipes, fittings, insulation, and accessories.
All quantities were organized into a clean, easy-to-review Excel BOQ. A corresponding marked up plan was created to provide visual confirmation of every measured item. During the process, we identified mismatches between the client’s BOQ and the actual drawings, communicated these variations, and finalized quantities through collaborative review.
The project was delivered with complete documentation, clear communication, and an emphasis on measurable accuracy to support downstream estimation and procurement activities.
