Project Overview
This project involved delivering a complete HVAC drafting and design package for a three-story commercial building in California. The scope included load calculations, system sizing, duct layout development, and final AutoCAD drawings. The client required accurate, code-aligned mechanical designs that ensure balanced airflow, proper equipment selection, and clear construction-ready documentation.
Client Requirement
The client required accurate Manual J, S, and D–based load calculations, commercial system sizing, and complete HVAC drawings for a three-story commercial facility. Their expectations included:
- Precise heating and cooling load calculations using HAP
- Correct equipment sizing aligned with ASHRAE standards
- Detailed ducting and air distribution layouts
- Clean and professionally drafted AutoCAD drawings
- A design that supports efficiency, comfort, and regulatory compliance
The goal was to develop a fully coordinated HVAC design package ready for review, approval, and execution.
Our Approach
We began by analyzing the project plans and performing detailed load calculations using ASHRAE-aligned methods within HAP. These calculations established the foundation for accurate system sizing and ensured each zone’s unique thermal requirements were addressed.
Next, we designed the complete duct layout for all three floors, applying proper sizing techniques to maintain balanced airflow and optimal system performance. Every element, air terminals, routing paths, duct sizes, and equipment placements were drafted with precision in AutoCAD.
The final drawings were prepared with clean presentation standards, proper labeling, and code-aligned detailing. The result is a coordinated, efficient, and construction-ready HVAC design package tailored to the building’s requirements.
Project Outcome
- Delivered a complete HVAC design aligned with ASHRAE standards
- Produced accurate load calculations and system sizing using HAP
- Created clear, professionally drafted AutoCAD drawings
- Ensured balanced air distribution across all three floors
- Supported efficient planning, review, and construction execution
